It has been a whirlwind summer for us and that may be an understatement. But, do you know what? It has been a great summer and we have enjoyed nearly every minute of it.
We spent a lot of time on the road: checking cattle in Nevada and California, visiting friends in Oregon, family in Wyoming, medical appointments in Utah and attending industry meetings in Colorado.
There have been a few bumps in the road, namely several flat tires, never-ending road construction, and the unavoidable bickering that comes with four kids in one vehicle for any length of time.
Fortunately, the good times more than made up for those rocky moments: Lots of time spent horseback. Roped a few calves. Made many new friends. Discovered new restaurants. Visited a few tourist attractions. Fishing with Grandpa. Roadside fruit stands.
Now it’s time for us to say good-bye to summer and get into back-to-school mode. Time for us to settle down into our regular routine. Get ready to start shipping steers in a few weeks. Trailing cattle to fall pasture. Processing calves…And let’s not forget: homework, packing lunches, bus rides, chauffeur kids to after school activities…
I almost forgot how hectic our regular routine is!
